Summary
Procedure to remove and replace the memory cover on a MacBook Core Duo. This L-shaped metal cover secures the RAM levers and hard drive within the battery compartment.
Procedure
- Use a coin or spudger to rotate the battery-locking screw 90 degrees clockwise.
- Lift the battery out of the computer.
- Remove the three evenly-spaced Phillips screws from along the rear wall of the battery compartment. Note: screws are captive to the metal memory cover.
- Lift up on the L-shaped memory cover, slide it to the right, and lift it out of the computer.
- To reinstall, reverse the steps above.
Notes
- The three Phillips screws are captive and will remain attached to the memory cover — do not force them out.
- When reinstalling the memory cover, use a spudger to re-insert the foam cushioning behind the rear wall to ensure proper battery spacing.
