Replace the battery on a MacBook Core Duo using a coin or spudger. No additional tools required.

Procedure

  1. Use a coin or spudger to rotate the battery-locking screw 90 degrees clockwise.
  2. Lift the battery out of the computer.
  3. Insert the new battery and rotate the locking screw 90 degrees counter-clockwise to secure.

Notes

  • This procedure applies to the MacBook Core Duo only. The MacBook Core 2 Duo does not have a coin slot on the back and requires a different procedure.
  • Source replacement batteries from a reputable supplier.
  • Monitor battery temperature during initial charging after replacement.
