Summary

Replace a broken, cracked, or non-responsive screen on iPhone 15 Pro. This procedure involves disassembling the device, disconnecting internal cables, and removing the old screen. You’ll need replacement screen adhesive and a P2 pentalobe screwdriver, Y000 screwdriver, opening picks, suction handle, and heat source (hair dryer or heat gun).

Important: Drain battery below 25% before starting. On iOS 17.6 and earlier, True Tone and auto brightness will be disabled after replacement; iOS 18+ allows recalibration via Apple’s Repair Assistant.

Procedure

  1. Drain battery below 25%; power off phone; unplug all cables
  2. Apply overlapping packing tape over cracked glass for protection
  3. Mark opening picks 3mm from tip with permanent marker to prevent deep insertion damage
  4. Remove two 7mm pentalobe screws on either side of charging port
  5. Heat bottom edge until hot to touch; apply suction handle and pull to create gap
  6. Insert opening pick into gap; slide along bottom edge (max 3mm depth) to separate adhesive; leave pick in bottom right corner
  7. Heat right edge; slide pick around bottom right corner toward power button until hard stop at clip (max 5mm depth)
  8. Twist pick to release right clip; insert second pick; slide both picks to separate right edge adhesive (max 5mm depth)
  9. Heat top edge; slide pick along top edge to release clips and adhesive (max 3mm depth)
  10. Heat left edge; rotate pick around top left corner to bottom left corner to separate adhesive (max 2mm depth to avoid cables)
  11. Prop up screen using small box or books; swing right edge up like book cover
  12. Remove six screws from logic board cover using Y000 screwdriver (four 1.6mm, two 1.3mm screws)
  13. Rotate logic board cover counterclockwise; slide top left corner out from under ambient light sensor cable
  14. Disconnect battery press connector from bottom right of logic board
  15. Disconnect screen cable from center of logic board
  16. Gently slide opening pick under ambient light sensor cable; lift to disconnect
  17. Remove old screen; inspect frame and clean as needed

Notes

  • Two delicate cables connect the screen: one above the action button, one near middle of left edge—avoid damaging during disassembly
  • Multiple spring contacts around perimeter—do not insert picks deeper than recommended depths to avoid bending
  • When reconnecting press connectors, align over socket and press down one side until it clicks, then press other side; ensure flat seating
  • During reassembly, ensure top left corner of logic board cover goes under ambient light sensor cable
  • Check if replacement screen includes ambient light sensor; if not, transfer from old screen
  • Apply new adhesive per manufacturer instructions during reassembly
