Summary

Replace the front camera assembly in iPhone 15 Pro when the front camera image is fuzzy, non-functional, or when Face ID fails. This assembly includes both the front-facing camera and Face ID hardware as a paired unit. Note: Face ID will not function after replacement unless you have iOS 18+ and can recalibrate using Apple’s Repair Assistant. You will need replacement screen adhesive to complete this repair.

Procedure

Pre-Disassembly

  1. Drain battery below 25% to prevent fire hazard
  2. Unplug all cables
  3. Power off device using power + volume button
  4. Apply overlapping packing tape over any cracked screen or back glass
  5. Mark opening pick 3 mm from tip with permanent marker to prevent over-insertion damage

Screen Removal

  1. Remove two 7 mm pentalobe screws (P2 screwdriver) on either side of charging port
  2. Heat bottom edge of screen until hot to touch
  3. Apply suction handle to bottom edge and pull steadily to create gap
  4. Insert opening pick into gap; do not insert deeper than 3 mm
  5. Slide pick along bottom edge to separate adhesive
  6. Heat right edge; insert pick no deeper than 5 mm
  7. Slide pick to power button until feeling hard stop at clip
  8. Rotate pick flat under screen and twist to release right clip
  9. Insert second pick and separate right edge adhesive
  10. Heat top edge; separate adhesive and release two clips (3 mm max depth)
  11. Heat left edge; separate adhesive with pick no deeper than 2 mm (cable hazard)
  12. Prop screen up on left side like book cover to access cables without strain

Logic Board Access

  1. Remove six screws from logic board cover using Y000 screwdriver (four 1.6 mm, two 1.3 mm screws)
  2. Rotate bottom of cover counterclockwise; slide top left corner out from under ambient light sensor cable

Camera Assembly Access (Continued)

  1. Disconnect battery press connector at bottom right of logic board using opening pick
  2. Disconnect screen cable at center of logic board
  3. Disconnect ambient light sensor cable at top left by gently sliding pick underneath and lifting
  4. Remove screen completely

Notes

  • Cables at risk: Two delicate screen cables near action button and middle of left edge
  • Spring contacts: Multiple spring contacts around perimeter—do not over-insert pick
  • Face ID restoration: Only possible on iOS 18+ with Apple’s Repair Assistant tool; earlier iOS versions require Apple or authorized technician
  • Press connector reconnection: Align over socket and press one side until clicking, then press other side; ensure flat seating
  • Logic board cover reassembly: Top left corner must go under ambient light sensor cable
  • Heat application: Use hair dryer or heat gun; do not overheat (battery is heat-sensitive)
