Summary

Complete guide to replace a cracked or broken screen on iPhone 15 Plus. Requires P2 pentalobe driver, tri-point Y000 driver, opening picks, suction cup, heat gun, tweezers, and replacement screen adhesive. Battery must be below 25% charge before starting.

Procedure

Preparation

  1. Drain battery below 25%
  2. Unplug all cables
  3. Power off phone using power and volume buttons
  4. Apply packing tape over cracks to protect against glass shards and aid disassembly
  5. Mark opening picks at 3 mm from tip with permanent marker to prevent deep insertion damage

Screen Removal

  1. Remove two 7.7 mm pentalobe screws on either side of charging port using P2 driver
  2. Heat bottom edge of screen with hair dryer or heat gun until hot to touch
  3. Apply suction handle to bottom edge and pull up with steady force to create gap
  4. Insert opening pick into gap
  5. Slide pick along bottom edge (max 3 mm depth) to separate adhesive; leave pick in bottom right corner
  6. Heat right edge until hot to touch
  7. Insert second pick and slide along right edge (max 5 mm depth) to release clips and adhesive
  8. Heat top edge until hot to touch
  9. Insert third pick at top right corner and slide along top edge (max 3 mm depth) to release clips
  10. Heat left edge until hot to touch
  11. Slide pick around top left corner and down left edge (max 3 mm depth) to avoid two cables
  12. Gently swing screen open over left edge; rest against box to avoid cable strain

Connector Disconnection

  1. Remove 0.9 mm screw from front sensor connector cover using tri-point Y000 driver
  2. Use tweezers to lift cover to 90 degrees and unhook from logic board slot
  3. Use opening pick tip to pry and disconnect front sensor press connector
  4. Remove 0.9 mm screw from screen connector cover using tri-point Y000 driver
  5. Use tweezers to lift and unlatch cover from logic board hook
  6. Use opening pick tip to pry and disconnect screen press connector
  7. Remove screen

Reassembly Notes

  1. Test new screen before final assembly (connect, power on, verify function, power down)
  2. When reconnecting press connectors: align carefully over socket and press down on one side then the other until clicking—do not force
  3. Remove old adhesive from frame carefully to avoid damaging spring contacts
  4. Apply new screen adhesive according to replacement part instructions

Notes

  • Battery Safety: Do not use metal prying tools or touch exposed contacts (battery not disconnected)
  • Delicate Areas: Two cables above mute switch and halfway between volume down and phone bottom; multiple spring contacts around perimeter
  • Parts Pairing: iOS 17.6 and earlier disables True Tone and auto brightness after replacement even with genuine parts. iOS 18+ allows recalibration via Apple Repair Assistant for genuine parts
  • Heat Caution: Do not overheat—lithium battery is susceptible to heat damage
  • Depth Limits: Bottom/top/left edges max 3 mm; right edge max 5 mm insertion depth
