You should see this screen appear:

Before doing what the guide tells you, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Enable developer options
  • Enable USB debugging
  • Connect the cable to the phone and the computer to ensure that the Pixel phone is being recognized on the computer. Once you’ve ensured it’s connected, unplug the cable from the phone.

Once the above has been completed, shut off the Pixel. Once it’s turned off, press and hold the power button and the volume down button for 3 seconds. You should get a “fast boot” screen that appears- this looks like a black screen with a red triangle.

When you see that screen, plug the phone into the cable. Select the Connect Device button. You should get a screen that pops up in the left-hand corner.

If the phone is connected properly, you should see the “Pixel” listed in that box. Click on it and follow the remaining prompts.

Once the phone reboots itself, unplug the cable. When the phone is on the home or lock screen, unlock the phone. Once the OS loads, reboot the phone. Once it has been rebooted, repeat that process: unlock the phone, then reboot one more time. Once it has rebooted the second time, go ahead and unlock the phone and load the OS, then test the fingerprint sensor.

You can place your own fingerprint on the screen & you should receive a, “fingerprint not recognized” message. You will also notice the flickering error message has gone away. If the sensor is not functioning still, you may need to complete the recalibration again by following all of the above steps.
