Summary

Remove or replace the physical SIM card in an iPhone 15. This guide does not apply to eSIM (embedded SIM) or iPhone 15 units sold without physical SIM support (certain regions).

Procedure

  1. Insert a SIM eject tool or straightened paperclip into the small hole on the SIM tray, located on the left side of the iPhone below the volume buttons.
  2. Press firmly until the SIM tray ejects.
  3. Remove the SIM tray from the iPhone.
  4. Remove or replace the SIM card in the tray, ensuring the card is oriented correctly so it can be read by the device.
  5. Reinsert the SIM tray fully into the iPhone.

Notes

  • The SIM card will fall out of the tray easily once removed — handle carefully.
  • A thin rubber gasket on the SIM tray provides water and dust resistance. Inspect it before reinserting; replace the gasket or entire tray if damaged or missing.
  • This guide covers physical SIM only. The eSIM is silicon-based and cannot be removed.
  • Not all iPhone 15 units have a physical SIM slot — verify before attempting.
