Summary

Replace malfunctioning rear cameras on iPhone 15 Pro if photos appear distorted, fuzzy, or cameras won’t focus/capture images. This procedure requires disassembly of the device and installation of replacement screen adhesive.

Procedure

Preparation

  1. Drain battery below 25% before starting (lithium-ion fire risk if damaged)
  2. Unplug all cables
  3. Power off device: hold power + volume button, slide to power off
  4. Apply overlapping packing tape over any cracked glass for protection

Screen Removal

  1. Mark opening picks at 3mm from tip with permanent marker to prevent internal damage
  2. Remove two 7mm pentalobe screws (P2 screwdriver) on either side of charging port
  3. Heat bottom edge of screen with hair dryer or heat gun until hot to touch
  4. Apply suction handle to bottom edge, pull with steady force to create gap
  5. Insert opening pick into gap; slide along bottom edge (max 3mm depth) to separate adhesive
  6. Leave pick in bottom right corner to prevent re-sealing
  7. Heat right edge; insert pick at max 5mm depth toward power button until hard stop
  8. Rotate pick flat-edge under screen; twist to release right clip
  9. Insert second pick to right of first; slide picks to separate right edge adhesive
  10. Heat top edge; slide pick around top right corner (max 3mm depth) to release clips and adhesive
  11. Heat left edge; rotate pick around top left corner (max 2mm depth to avoid cables) to bottom left
  12. Prop screen up using small box or books to access cables without strain

Internal Access

  1. Remove six screws from logic board cover using Y000 screwdriver:
    • Four 1.6mm screws
    • Two 1.3mm screws
  2. Rotate bottom of cover counterclockwise; slide top left corner out from under ambient light sensor cable
  3. Disconnect battery press connector (bottom right of logic board) using opening pick
  4. Disconnect screen cable (center of logic board)
  5. Disconnect ambient light sensor cable (top left corner)
  6. Remove screen carefully; avoid damaging spring contacts

Camera Replacement

  1. Disconnect rear cameras (procedure continues in full guide)

Notes

  • Due to Apple parts pairing: iOS 17.6 and earlier may show camera warnings but will function normally; iOS 18+ requires calibration using Apple Repair Assistant
  • Replace screen adhesive during reassembly using dedicated adhesive guide
  • Use caution around two delicate screen cables: one above action button, one near left edge middle
  • Multiple spring contacts around perimeter—avoid inserting picks deeper than specified
  • Ambient light sensor cable must sit under logic board cover top left corner during reassembly
  • Press connectors: align over socket and gently press one side until click, then other side; ensure flat seating
