Summary
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for removing and replacing cracked or broken back glass on an iPhone 15 Pro. The repair involves disconnecting the wireless charging coil and carefully separating adhesive-sealed glass from the frame. Replacement back glass adhesive is required to complete the repair.
Procedure
-
Prepare for disassembly: Drain battery below 25%, unplug all cables, power off the device using power + volume button.
-
Protect cracked glass: Apply overlapping packing tape over cracked areas; ensure a smooth section at bottom edge for suction cup placement.
-
Mark opening picks: Mark opening picks at 3 mm from the tip with permanent marker to prevent over-insertion damage.
-
Remove pentalobe screws: Use P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove two 7 mm screws on either side of charging port.
-
Heat bottom edge: Use hair dryer or heat gun to heat bottom edge until hot to touch.
-
Create initial gap: Apply suction handle to bottom edge, pull with steady force to create gap, insert opening pick.
-
Separate bottom adhesive: Slide pick along bottom edge (max 5 mm depth). Leave pick inserted in bottom left corner.
-
Heat left edge: Heat until hot to touch.
-
Separate left adhesive: Insert second pick, slide to top left corner (max 5 mm depth). Leave inserted.
-
Heat top edge: Heat until hot to touch.
-
Separate top adhesive: Insert third pick, slide to top right corner (max 5 mm depth). If stuck, press top clips inward with spudger.
-
Separate top right corner: Rotate pick around corner, slide to volume up button (avoid slicing wireless charging cable). Leave inserted.
-
Heat right edge: Heat until hot to touch.
-
Separate right adhesive: Insert fourth pick at bottom, rotate around bottom right corner, slide to volume down button (avoid cable).
-
Open back glass: Gently swing open over right edge. If stuck, check for missed adhesive or clips. Support glass against object to avoid cable strain.
-
Remove connector cover: Use Y000 tri-point driver to remove 1.0 mm screw; use tweezers to slide cover out.
-
Disconnect wireless charging coil: Use opening pick to pry up and disconnect press connector.
-
Remove back glass: Lift away from device.
Notes
- Battery must be below 25% before starting—charged lithium-ion battery may catch fire if damaged.
- Do not insert picks deeper than 5 mm along any edge.
- Wireless charging cable runs near volume buttons—avoid slicing during adhesive separation.
- iOS 18+ supports part calibration via Apple’s Repair Assistant after installation.
- Replacement back glass adhesive is required for reassembly.
- Top clips may need inward pressure if top edge doesn’t separate cleanly.
