Summary
Step-by-step procedure to remove and replace the logic board in an iPhone 15. Requires screen and back glass removal. Due to Apple parts pairing, associated components (screen, front camera, battery) may need to be paired to the replacement logic board to retain full functionality.
Procedure
Preparation
- Drain battery below 25%. Power off the device and unplug all cables.
- Cover cracked glass with overlapping strips of packing tape. Ensure a smooth area near the bottom edge for suction cup placement.
- Mark opening picks at 3 mm from the tip to prevent over-insertion damage.
Screen Removal
- Remove two 7.7 mm P2 pentalobe screws flanking the charging port.
- Heat the bottom edge of the screen until hot to the touch. Apply suction handle, create a gap, and insert an opening pick.
- Slide the pick along the bottom edge (max depth: 3 mm). Leave pick inserted in bottom right corner.
- Heat the right edge. Slide pick around the bottom right corner toward the power button (max depth: 5 mm). Twist pick to release the right clip. Insert a second pick.
- Slide first pick back to bottom right; slide second pick to top right corner to separate right edge adhesive.
- Heat the top edge. Insert a third pick at the top right corner and slide along the top edge (max depth: 3 mm). Twist to release top left clip. Slide to top left corner.
- Heat the left edge. Slide pick along the left edge (max depth: 3 mm) — avoid the two screen cables near the mute switch and mid-left area.
- Swing the screen open over the left edge.
- Remove Y000 screw (0.9 mm) from the front sensor connector cover. Lift cover to 90°, unhook from logic board slot, and remove.
- Pry up and disconnect the front sensor press connector.
- Remove Y000 screw (0.9 mm) from the screen connector cover. Unlatch and remove the cover.
- Pry up and disconnect the screen press connector. Remove the screen.
Back Glass Removal
- Flip the phone over onto a soft surface.
- Heat the bottom edge of the back glass. Apply suction handle, create a gap, and insert an opening pick.
- Slide pick along the bottom edge (max depth: 5 mm). Leave pick in bottom right corner.
- Heat the right edge. Slide pick around the bottom right corner toward the volume down button (max depth: 7 mm). Do not slice past the volume buttons — wireless charging cable risk.
- Heat the left edge. Insert a second pick at the bottom left, rotate around the corner, and slide to the top left (max depth: 5 mm).
- Heat the top edge. Slide the second pick along the top edge to the top right corner (max depth: 3 mm). Release the two top clips.
- Heat the top right corner. Slide the second pick from top right down to the volume up button (max depth: 4 mm).
- Swing the back glass open to the right. Rest it against a raised surface — do not strain the cable.
- Remove two 1.3 mm Y000 screws from the lower connector cover. Slide cover toward the top to unlatch and remove.
- Rotate back glass to reveal the battery press connector. Pry up and disconnect the battery connector.
- Remove 0.9 mm Y000 screw from the middle connector cover. Push cover toward the bottom to unclip and remove.
- Pry up and disconnect the wireless charging coil and NFC connector. Remove the back glass.

- Remove five Phillips #000 screws from the earpiece speaker: two 1.1 mm and three 1.6 mm. Remove the earpiece speaker.

- Disconnect the volume buttons press connector.
- Disconnect the power button press connector.
- Disconnect rear cameras and antenna press connectors (3 total).
- Disconnect eSIM, Taptic Engine, and charging port press connectors (3 total).
- Using a standoff driver, remove five standoff screws securing the logic board: one 2.9 mm, one 3.9 mm, three 3.5 mm.
